Hold'em Watcher Hand Configurations

Hold'em Watcher offers many different options that you can customize. To access the Hand Configurations settings look on the NEW WELCOME WINDOW, click the tab from the dropdown menu, then select Hand Configurations.

"CURRENT HAND POSITIONS DEFINED"

  • Blinds = SB, BB
  • Late = Dealer, Dealer-1, Dealer-2
  • Middle = Dealer-3, Dealer-4
  • Early = Dealer-5, Dealer-6, Dealer-7
The number expressions -1 & -2 and so on, are counter clock wise position definitions. So, the number expression "Dealer -1" = the cutoff position & "Dealer -2" =just before cutoff, and so on...

This will change in the near future when the new hand configuration setup is finished. The new configurations will have 10 positions, BB, SB, D, D-1 thru D-7 accounting for up to 10 seats.

In the future these hand positions will have the ability to be switched "on and off" during play to accommodate the dynamics of players coming in and out of the game. We are planning that the new interface for building & setting up "hand configurations" will be alot more user friendly in the future.

If you still have questions about setting "Hold'em Watcher" up to play after you have thoroughly read all the tutorials, feel free to e-mail us at our support address, "support(AT)holdemwatcher.com" (just replace the (AT) with the @ sign when you email us for support).

Hold'em Watcher can be setup to alert or muck any possible hand using a hand configuration file. Each file can contain any number of unique settings based on the type of table you want to use if for. Hand configurations are separated into three categories.
  • Cash Game
  • Single Table Tourney
  • Multi-Table Tourney

When Hold'em Watcher is first installed, a default hand configuration file is created for each of the three categories listed above. The hands selected as playable are intentionally set very loose so you will be alerted very often that a hand is playable. You will want to adjust these settings to your style of play. There are some very minor differences in the default configurations for each category:

Cash Game:
If you are found sitting out, you won't be put back in, just alerted you are sitting out If your table closes, Hold'em Watcher won't attempt to find you at a different table. Hold'em Watcher will not muck a hand if in Check Down Mode

Single Table Tourney:
If you are found sitting out, you will be put back in, if your table closes, Hold'em Watcher won't attempt to find you at a different table. Hold'em Watcher will muck your hand if in Check Down Mode and the option to check is no longer available

Multi-Table Tourney:
If you are found sitting out, you will be put back in, if your table closes, Hold'em Watcher won't attempt to find you at a different table Hold'em Watcher will muck your hand if in Check Down Mode and the option to check is no longer available.

The categories are provided as a convenient way to quickly load settings based on the type of game you are playing. When adding a table, you'll selected the game type of that table.

HAND OPTION CONFIGURATIONS

CHECK DOWN MODE

Check Down Mode:
During the course of playing, there will be times when Hold'em Watcher will find you with a hand that would normally be mucked but you have the option to check. To compensate for this, there are special settings in each hand configuration file to handle a Check Down situation.

**If you select either of these first two options for a playable hand or a hand that Hold'em Watcher would muck, you are alerted until you get back to decide on what to do or the poker site times you out and either checks or mucks for you. In most situations when that happens, the poker site will sit you out of the game. Be sure to either turn on the "Alert me of sitting out" or "Put me back in if I am found sitting out".

OTHER SETTINGS

Muck Delay Timer:
Set this to the amount of time you want Hold'em Watcher to delay action when mucking a hand. The default setting is 3 seconds. You may want increase this timer for use as a "stall" technique if you are trying to limp your way into the money when you're short stacked in a multi-table tourney.

Check Delay Timer:
Set this to the amount of time you want Hold'em Watcher to delay action when in Check Down mode. Be certain to set this timer large enough that you can get back in time, but not to large that the poker site times you out and acts for you

Always alert me if I am in the blinds:
Check this option if you want Hold'em Watcher to sound the alert when you are in the blinds regardless of the cards you are dealt.

Alert me if I am sitting out:
Check this option to alert you if you are found to be sitting out of the game. Although Hold'em Watcher is extremely reliable, there are times when your hand fails to fold, or you have the Check Down mode option set to only alert or alert and check down. In this situation, the poker site will time you out and possibly sit you out of the game. This setting is there to make sure you know you aren't being dealt in. We recommend this option to be set for both cash games and tournaments.

Put me back in if I am found sitting out:
Check this option to have Hold'em Watcher click you back in if you are found sitting out. This option is recommended for Single & Multi-Table tournaments but not for cash games.

CUSTOM DEFINED HANDS

With Hold'em Watcher, you can define any possible hand to trigger an alert. You may only define custom hand when editing a hand configuration from the Properties button/Hand configuration menu. During play, you may turn on or off hands but you are not allowed to add or remove hands from the list. To define custom hands, click the Custom button on the Hand Configuration window.

From the custom hands window, you can define any hand you wish to be alerted on. You may also edit the names of hands, remove hands, or rearrange the list to your liking.
